    What is a franking machine?

    A franking machine is able to weigh, calculate and print postage for letters and parcels to be sent through the post.

    What if I’m already in a contract with another provider?

    A

    That is not a problem. We believe that you shouldn’t have to stay in a contract if you are unhappy or simply want to go elsewhere and that’s why we can settle contracts with anything up to three years left on the lease, and this is at no extra cost to you.

    Are you Royal Mail approved?

    A

    We certainly are! This Royal Mail accreditation means that we have been authorised to inspect, maintain and repair franking machines.

    What if there is a fault with my machine?

    A

    We truly believe that service is key to maintaining a great relationship with our customers. If any issues arise with your machine, our fully trained engineers are just a phone call away. In the rare instance that we can’t provide a ‘fix’ over the phone, we guarantee that under our fully comprehensive service cover, an engineer will be sent out by the next working day at the latest.

    Who will install my new machine?

    Under our fully comprehensive service contract, our fully trained service engineers will deliver your machine, install it and show you how to use it, all at no extra cost to you.

    What is Mailmark?

    A

    Mailmark is a postage tariff which the Royal Mail introduced in 2014, which is even cheaper than ordinary franking. If you are still franking the circular mark then you are currently not on Mailmark and spending more than necessary on your postage. You can see the barcode which is the frank mark that a Mailmark machine would produce

    Can I choose which machine I have?

    A

    Yes, the choice is yours! Our sales representatives will give you a recommendation on the machine which will suit you best, based on how many letters you are sending weekly, how much you spend on inks, how often you top up and what you are sending.

    Can you supply the ink for my machines?

    A

    Through our sister company Monsters Ink, we supply both compatible and original franking inks and other consumable products for the machines.

    Is using a franking machine good for business?

    A

    Not only can a franking machine lower your postage costs, it also allows you to personalise your post by adding your logo and return address.

    Do I have to buy a franking machine or can I rent one?

    A

    You have the option to either lease your machine or purchase it outright. We offer a variety of flexible leasing options, if you chose that to be the right option for your business.

    Does a franking machine need to be serviced?

    A

    Yes, as set by the Royal Mail you must ensure your machine is serviced annually by an approved supplier.

    I've heard you need a licence to be able to use a franking machine. Is this true?

    A

    You do need a license, however as your supplier we will apply to the Royal Mail for this on your behalf.

    Do I need a smart franking machine?

    A

    All machines we offer are now smart franking machines, so you are always able to reclaim VAT.

    How do I post franked mail?

    A

    Franked post can be posted through franked mail or business mail boxes, taken to your nearest post office and in normal post boxes when you use late posting envelopes. It is also possible to arrange for the Royal Mail to collect your post.

    Can I print a business logo or special message on franked envelopes?

    A

    Yes, we offer the option to add your company logo and return address free of charge.

    What happens when the Royal Mail postage tariff changes?

    A

    Most franking machines will need to be updated once the annual postage tariff is changed, however this is generally a quick and simple process. MailServe send out an advisory email to all customers to make this as easy as possible.

    Why must I have the right prices on my franking machine?

    A

    The Royal Mail requires that all franking machines must have the correct postage prices loaded on the machine at all times. Without the correct prices you are at risk of surcharges by over or under franking your post.
